Steve Zugan

U.S. Coast Guard Master Captain

GRT-50 Near Coastal (Up to 200 Miles offshore)

Coming from a U.S Navy family, I was first introduced to Hilton Head in 1995 when my father retired as a then Police Sergeant from Ohio. Raised fishing Lake Erie religiously, being on the water is first nature. It took only a few trips fishing, shrimping, clamming, and just enjoying the southern hospitality to fall in love with South Carolina’s Low Country.

While I spent 24 years building a very successful white collar career in selling Sporting Goods and Toy consumer products to mass retail, my relaxation time was spent in Hilton Head and traveling the world fishing from Hawaii to the Caribbean and everything in between. I have been very blessed in my career learning to offer the best value services while enjoying the ride. Having lost my father and father-in-law at early ages, I set a goal in 2001 to follow my dream of being a charter captain in Hilton Head, SC.

Please be advised experienced Captains on Hilton Head sell-out weeks in advance in-season. So why should you trust Captain Steve with your next charter trip?

  • I know what the customer wants: A safe “put me on the fish” personable captain that wants to provide those memories that I have been fortunate to enjoy myself.

  • In addition to fishing my whole life, the past two years has been spent working with a prior Hilton Head and Savannah 15-year charter fisherman who has shared his 8K+ fishing holes with me stretching from Northern South Carolina to the Gulf of Mexico.

  • I, now owning my 5th boat 18-30’ since 1992, have been approved by the U.S. Coast Guard that my tested knowledge certifies me as a Master Captain.

  • After a year of evaluating ALL offshore fishing boats available including visiting several factory production floors, I have chosen the best possible boat delivering performance, comfortable ride, safety, and most importantly a dry ride.

  • Investments in an 8-person top of the line Viking liferaft, EPIRB (emergency tracking beacon), premium fishing equipment and boat amenities were made to service you, my clientele.

  • I have chosen Skull Creek Marina due to its amenities and most importantly its location! Located just off the Intracoastal Waterway, it is the closest deep water access to both Port Royal Sound (Inshore), the Atlantic Ocean (Near Offshore) trip. I felt your time is best spent fishing rather than traveling up to 30 minutes through no-wake zones each way.

  • Always Angling Charters is a full-service charter that will cook lunch for you on the boat from the menu provided on the “Charter Trips Rates” page. I provide the best restaurant recommendations that I feel deliver the best “ Cook Your Catch” offerings on their menus. I will also provide some of the best fish preparations I have found to make some of the most delicious “Ocean to Table” meals and memories for your family.

  • My focus will be on your needs while providing the flexibility of tailored charters in a family-friendly environment. Your goals will be my goals in providing family experiences, fish on the deck, and hopefully state records!

  • If you give me the opportunity, I will work harder than most, making multiple moves on my faster boat to ensure I exceed your expectations.

Experience the thrill of the catch to truly enjoy
the freshness of Ocean to Table meals!

Thanks to you, My clientele

  • Families destined to experience South Carolina’s relaxing, peaceful, and beautiful Low Country. Building family memories while fully experiencing the thrill of catch and providing the night’s meal is what I call “Ocean to Table” delicious meals.

  • Avid Fishermen who expect the best of the best experienced captains, gear, and ability to be put on the fish. They want to be catching, not fishing. They target specific migrating fish species. The “thrill of the catch” is what motivates them, while bragging rights fuels them till their next trip. Whether their catch is mounted or eaten, it is a way of life I have lived myself.

  • Low Country locals looking to catch some meals in their native waters while enjoying the ride.

  • Repeat customers and word of mouth clientele.

  • Corporate Sales Achievement Award Trips: I work with some of the best Captains on the island to accommodate these trips which requires at least two months notice to plan properly. All corporate functions require 100% payment in advance.
